Tribute from your Grandson - Preet

My Granddad and Grandma were the pillars of the Shamji Vaja family, their values have been instilled in each and every one of us and as a result have made the whole family unite and come together as one. This was very important to them as "family always come first" as granddad used to say many a time. Grandma was the type of person that would do anything for anyone at anytime that they required, she believed in helping people whatever their circumstances. I remember a time when she made "bateta shak" and bought lots of chocolates to take to the orphanage on a Sunday morning. So together with her daughter’s in-law and the grandchildren we went to the orphanage to give about 100 children food and chocolates. She was always helping people. She always gave her support to my mum especially, when my mum would have guests at home she would always help by making a dish. She was truly a family orientated person and always had a smile on her face. Granddad was a man that just wanted me to do well in whatever I did, whether it be studies or playing cricket or golf. He cared for the environment, and loved also to help the less fortunate in particular. He was a man that dared to dream big but what made him special was that he went out and actually achieved those dreams. The dreams to make the Shamji Vaja Parivar one of the most successful business entities in Kenya and Africa, However he believed that we had to do it as a team as a unit. In this he worked on family unity and many a time talked about the importance of staying together in this family. He had a knack for connecting with everyone from the youngest member to the oldest member in a way that no other person can. He loved this family and he loved each and every individual in our family.
